One of our favorite sides is also a fantastic sharable holiday side dish. Start out with a bag of brussel sprouts or enough for the number of portions. You have to feel this out for yourself based off how much you like them.
After cutting off the brussel stems and slicing each in half, begin to pre cut some raw bacon. We use about an 1/4 of a lb. of allergy safe bacon (read your ingredients) Simmer the bacon until about 75 % cooked, then using the bacon grease toss in the brussel sprouts and stir. Once the brussels are coated ok, add about a cup of raw organic cranberries. Stir these occasionally and saute for about 5 to 8 minutes. Add some salt and pepper to taste, and once they begin to cook slightly, add about 1/4 cup of maple syrup. Maple syrup make everything better. 🙂 We say use about a 1/4 cup, but as you can see here, Jen just adds it until it just looks perfect. (Whatever that means) A few more minutes of mixing the ingredients together and they are ready to be served. Add them as a side to this delicious 8 hour crock pot short rib meal and sweet potato side! YES!
Let us know how yours come out! and also if you make any modifications 😉
