Saturday Night Rodeo Fun

Did you know that there is a monthly down-home rodeo event just 20 minutes from the campground Thousand Trails Orlando? We had no idea there was this much farmland just minutes from the hustle and bustle of the Clermont / Four Corners area. Last month, when Jen and Leighton were back up in Connecticut, Shayla and I (Jerome) were looking for some activity for Daddy-Daughter night. We saw the sign they had set up on RT33 and decided to dig around for more info.

The Green Swamp Rodeo is a long-standing tradition in Central Florida. They host back-home rodeo events once a month on Saturday nights from March through October at their family ranch https://stokesgsrarena.com. We’ve attended this rodeo several times this winter and had a fantastic time.

Enjoy this exciting rodeo at the

Stokes Green Swamp ranch, 16825 Taylor lane, Polk City, FL 33868, US.

The gates open at 5 pm. We arrived at 5:30 with hopes of backing the truck right up to the arena fence and tailgating, but all those spots were taken, so we opted for plan b, our lawn chairs.
The rodeo starts at 6:00 pm sharp and runs officially until about 8 pm, with open barrel racing until 10 pm!

There are plenty of great vendors to visit during the rodeo. The last couple of times we were there, they had a food truck, tack vendor, custom hat maker, diesel tuner, and a mechanical bull.

We learned that the Silver Spurs Rodeo was going on the following day, so many top talents were saving up for that event, but it was such a great time regardless.

One of the most exciting events is bull riding. The bulls are big, strong, and angry. The riders are brave cowboys who have worked hard all their life to become good athletes, regardless if they can’t make the 8 seconds. But they love their work and have fun at it too!

The rodeo I went to with Shayla had bareback bronc riding, bull riding, and barrel racing. This past rodeo had pole bending, barrel racing, and bull riding.

The Green Swamp Rodeo is a great way to spend time with family and friends. There are plenty of events that everyone can enjoy, and it’s fun for all ages! Tickets were $15 per adult (12+) and $10 for kids (12-)
