GPS Fail | Little River Waterfall Alabama

After our two day stay in Tennessee working and exploring the Caverns, we made the trip to our next destination.  Sweet Home Alabama.  Little River RV Park to be specific.   Everything seemed to be on track for a smooth trip, but strangely the GPS started adding time for no reason.  Jen double checked the route from her phone and the phone had us arriving 30 minutes later than the GPS.  What is most odd is that the GPS is always about 20-30 minutes longer than anything Google or Waze can give us.  The reason is we have an RV GPS.  Specifically designed to carry the inputted restrictions of our height, weight, length and width.  The GPS keeps us off narrow roads and dangerous curves and underpasses.

If you look on the GPS the checkered flag is where it told us the destination was.   That is actually in Georgia.  (you can see the dotted line state line)  The Campground was actually where the Black Truck and Camper Icon is.  We drove the roundabout way through Rome Georgia to get to a place that is right off of 59 in Alabama.  We wasted probably an hour and twenty minutes of driving time going this roundabout way.   We never figured out why it sent us there but ultimately we called the campground owner and got the directions we needed.

Upon arrival of Little River RV Park & Campground, we were able to check in by just going to a spot and picking it.  The business is actually run by a fantastic husband and wife team, but they are only there after their regular jobs let out.  So after their work day, they would come by and collect from the new tenants.  We had a nicely level site but in a pretty tight squeeze for our size rig.

With the Passport America discount I think it cost us $13 to stay for the night.   All you had to do was put money in the envelope and stick it in the mail slot at the office shed.

To be safe, I set up the new electric hose warmer I bought for Tennessee and we had zero problems with freezing water.

After the setup was complete, it was now Jen’s turn to get some uninterrupted work time in, so I took the girls on a hike to the waterfalls that we drove by on the way to the campground.

As the sun was beginning to set we headed back to the RV to find Jen wrapping up her emails and album designs.  Before we were to begin dinner preparation, we were told by the Emergency Room Vet we should take Cole’s bandage off around this day.  Together Jen and I attempted to get the wrap off of Cole’s paw.  Remember he doesn’t like anyone touching his paws, so this ended up being a real task.  Just as the bandage was about to be completely  removed, Cole jumped from my lap; pulling the gauze right off his injured nail.  It began to bleed all over again… UGH.  Quickly we scrambled to look up a Vet that might still be open.  We found a super friendly Hospital Dekalb Animal Hospital 125 22nd St. NW
Fort Payne, AL 35967, which offered to stay open 10 minutes late for us to get there for them to rewrap his injured paw.  $40 and 15 minutes later we were back on our way home.   Give these great people a shout if you wish for being so kind https://www.facebook.com/dahvets

Since we had only planned to stay in Alabama for one night, we headed out first thing in the morning; but not before the girls wanted to show Mommy the beautiful waterfall.  I think Leighton’s whole plan was to get us both there so she could take these photos of us.
